Can bibs be transferred for the race?
Bibs are not-transferable. Registrants who are unable to participate due to injury, may contact the Hershey Half Marathon to guarantee their entry for the following year's race. Fees are not refundable and cannot be applied towards future races.

What time does the race start?
The race starts at 7:30 AM for runners and walkers.  (No strollers, roller blades, skateboards or bicycles please.)

What are the prizes for top finishers?
Top Male Finisher: $300 and Top Female Finisher: $300

Are there Shuttles available for runners who stay at Hershey Resorts?
Yes! Guests of the Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge and Highmeadow Campground will have shuttle transportation to the Hersheypark Complex from 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM, and following the race until 12:00 noon.

Is there a Kids Fun Run?
There is a Kids Fun Run in Hersheypark Stadium on Saturday, October 19 at 5:15. The Fun Run sells out fast, typically prior to the deadline. (Friday, October 11.)
(Note: Any registrations received after 10/11/13 will not qualify for T-shirts.)

Are paper registration forms available?
No.  All registrations must be completed online.  Accepted forms of payment are Visa and Master Card.

I registered for the race, but didn’t receive an email confirmation. Is my registration confirmed?
At times, email servers block the confirmation emails. You can search your spam folder.

Are there pre-determined location to watch the race?
Yes, anyone wishing to cheer on racers are encouraged to do so at Hersheypark Stadium or the downtown Hershey. Unfortunately due to space limitations, there is no room for spectators at the halfway point.

When can I pick up my race packet?
Packet pickup will be at The Ice Palace on Sat. October 19 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Sun. October 20 beginning at 6:00 AM. (The Ice Palace is located directly across from the Hersheypark Stadium Box office on the west end of Hersheypark Arena)

Can someone else pick up my race packet?
Yes, as a convenience, this year we are allowing others to pick up race packets for friends and family.

What will runners see in Hershey?
Runners will start and end at Hersheypark Stadium. The route includes a section of Hersheypark, Chocolate Avenue (featuring our famous streetlights!) , Milton S. Hershey’s home – High Point mansion, Milton Hershey School and more!

Can I listen to music (headphones, earbuds, ipods, etc.)?
For the safety of all participants, we do not recommend the use of any electronic devices while participating in the Hershey Half Marathon.

Is Hersheypark open?
Hersheypark In The Dark is open during race weekend.  As part of your registration, you’ll receive 2 complimentary tickets to the Park in your race packet. Addional tickets can be purchased online or at the Front Gate.

Can we go to the Park on Friday, October 18? 
While the Park is open to the public on Friday, your complimentary tickets will only be available during packet pick-up on Saturday and Sunday.  We will be unable to distribute tickets in advance.  Additional tickets may be purchased online or at the Front Gate.

What else is there to do for spectators and families?
Hershey’s Chocolate World is open at 9:00 AM each day in October. Closing times vary.   Chocolate World is located within walking distance to the stadium.  On Saturday evening,  a Fun-Run for children 13 and under will be held at Hersheypark Stadium.

On Sunday, the Half Marathon kicks off at 7:30AM for runners and walkers, Spectators can view the race from various locations around town, or remain at the stadium to view the start and finish.

What does the entry fee entitle me to?
Entry fee includes race T-shirt, finisher’s medal, post race refreshments and 2 tickets to Hersheypark In The Dark.

I’m running in the relay race, do I get additional tickets to Hersheypark In The Dark?
Each “participant” in the Half Marathon qualifies for 2 complimentary tickets.  So, relay teams can receive up to 4 free tickets.

Is the race registration fee refundable?
No. Once you have registered for the race, your position is secured in the race. We are unable to provide refunds to participants.

What timing system is being used for the race?
The Hershey Half Marathon will be timed by a Mid-Atlantic Timing  using the Jaguar Chip Timing System. The Jaguar Chip Timing System is the most advanced timing system available. Utilizing RFID timing chips on the bib, there is no fuss for the participants to attach chips on their shoes. Simply wear your bib as instructed here, and run through the finish arch.  As you cross the finish line, look up at the large screen displays with the race clock and your name in lights!

After you have completed your race, expect to see you name scrolling on the instant results monitors or walk over to one of the rapid results touch screen kiosk and look up your finish time then print them out to take home with you.

 How will the relay work?
Relay teams will consist of 2 persons. For the safety of all participants, the runner completing the first leg of the race will run 6.7 miles, with runner #2 running 6.4 miles.   Transportation will be available to and from the half-way mark for those participating in the relay. Buses will be located at Hersheypark Stadium north-east gate. These buses will run on a constant loop to and from the half-way point.

What are the pace requirements?
Runners and walkers must maintain a 14 minute/mile pace. All participants must be clear of the course by 10:35 AM. Those who cannot maintain this pace may be transported back to the finish line, or must move off public roads and on to sidewalks. These participants must also understand that Aid Stations and race support may not be available after this time.

If I am a runner and a walker, what should I register as?
If you intend to run or jog at all, you should register as a runner. The walker division is strictly for those who intend to walk the entire race.

 What if it rains?
There is not a rain date for this event.  It will be held rain or shine. 

Are there showers available for runners?
Yes!  The men’s and women’s locker rooms at Hersheypark Stadium will be open for post-race showers.

What is Children’s Miracle Network?
Children’s Miracle Network’s mission is to support the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital by purchasing state-of-art equipment and by supporting vital programs.  All dollars raised locally stay local to help all children treated at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
