Are there any spots open for this year’s race?
No. The 2011 Hershey Half Marathon is SOLD OUT! We will not be taking names for a waiting list. We’d love for you to come out and support the event this year!
Can bibs be transferred for the race?
Hershey Half Marathon does not facilitate official bib transfers. Registrants who are unable to participate due to injury, schedule conflict, etc, are permitted to give their number to someone else. However, ONLY the person who originally registered for the race may acquire the bib number during packet pick-up. Photo ID will be required for participants to get their packet and bib number.
What time does the race start?
The race starts at 8:00 AM for runners, and 7:00 AM for walkers. (No strollers, roller blades, skateboards or bicycles please.)

Are paper registration forms available?
No. All registrations must be completed online. Accepted forms of payment are Visa and Mastercard.
I registered for the race, but didn’t receive an email confirmation. Is my registration confirmed?
At times, email servers block the confirmation emails. You can search your spam folder, or go here to check the status of your registration.
Are there pre-determined location to watch the race?
Yes, anyone wishing to cheer on racers are encouraged to do so at Hersheypark Stadium or the downtown Hershey. Unfortunately due to space limitations, there is no room for spectators at the halfway point.
When can I pick up my race packet?
Packet pickup will be at Hersheypark Stadium on Sat. October 15 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Sun. October 16 beginning at 5:30 AM.
What will runners see in Hershey?
Runners will start and end at Hersheypark Stadium. The route includes a section of Hersheypark, Chocolate Avenue (featuring our famous streetlights!) , The World’s Largest Chocolate Factory, Milton S. Hershey’s home – High Point mansion, Milton Hershey School and more!
Can I listen to music (headphones, earbuds, ipods, etc.)?
For the safety of all participants, we do not recommend the use of any electronic devices while participating in the Hershey Half Marathon.
Is Hersheypark open?
Hersheypark In The Dark is open during race weekend. As part of your registration, you’ll receive 2 complimentary tickets to the Park, as well as the opportunity to purchase 2 more at a discounted rate. These discounted tickets can only be purchased when you are registering for the race via your race registration form.
Can we go to the Park on Friday, October 14?
While the Park is open to the public on Friday, your complimentary tickets will only be available during packet pick-up on Saturday and Sunday. We will be unable to distribute tickets in advance. Tickets may be purchased online or at the Front Gate.
What else is there to do for spectators and families?
Hershey’s Chocolate World is open at 9:00 AM each day in October. Closing times vary. Chocolate World is located within walking distance to the stadium. On Saturday evening, a Fun-Run for children 13 and under will be held at Hersheypark Stadium.
On Sunday, the Half Marathon kicks off at 7:00AM for walkers, and at 8:00 AM for runners. Spectators can view the race from various locations around town, or remain at the stadium to view the start and finish.

What does the entry fee entitle me to?
Entry fee includes race T-shirt, finisher’s medal and 2 tickets to Hersheypark In The Dark. You may purchase up to 2 additional tickets @ $22.00 each.
I’m running in the relay race, do I get additional tickets to Hersheypark In The Dark?
Each “participant” in the Half Marathon qualifies for 2 complimentary tickets, and the opportunity to purchase up to 2 more. So, relay teams can receive up to 4 free, and 4 discounted park tickets.
Is the race registration fee refundable?
No. Once you have registered for the race, your position is secured in the race. We are unable to provide refunds to participants (including those on the Hershey Half Marathon package.)
What timing system is being used for the race?
The 2011 Hershey Half Marathon will be timed by a Mid-Atlantic Timing using the Jaguar Chip Timing System. The Jaguar Chip Timing System is the most advanced timing system available. Utilizing timing chips on the bib and overhead antennas, there is no fuss for the participants to attach chips ontheir shoes and no mats on the ground. Simply wear your bib as instructed here, and run through the finish arch. As you cross the finish line, look up at the large screen displays with the race clock and your name in lights!
After you have completed your race, expect to see you name scrolling on the instant results monitors or walk over to one of the rapid results touch screen kiosk and look up your finish time then print them out to take home with you.
How will the relay work?
Relay teams will consist of 2 persons, each running 1/2 of the race. Transportation will be available to and from the half-way mark for those participating in the relay.
What are the pace requirements?
Runners must maintain a 14 minute/mile pace. Walkers will be provided with an additional hour of time providing a slightly longer minute per mile pace. All walkers must be finished by the time the last runner completes the course.
If I am a runner and a walker, what should I register as?
If you intend to run or jog at all, you should register as a runner. The walker division is strictly for those who intend to walk the entire race.
Is there a hotel affiliated with the race?

If I book the package through the Hotel, how will my race registration work?
If you reserve the package, you’ll receive an email from us in early July which will contain a personalized code. This code will be needed to complete the official race documents to provide us with details like T-shirt size, anticipated pace, etc. Please be sure to watch your email!
What if it rains?
There is not a rain date for this event. It will be held rain or shine.
Will there be any post-race activities for runners?
The Spa at The Hotel Hershey will be offering complimentary post-race massages to runners on a first-come-first-serve basis. Hersheypark In The Dark is open on race day from 2:00 – 9:00 PM.
Are there showers available for runners?
Yes! The men’s and women’s locker rooms at Hersheypark Stadium will be open for post-race showers.
What is Children’s Miracle Network?
Children’s Miracle Network’s mission is to support the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital by purchasing state-of-art equipment and by supporting vital programs. All dollars raised locally stay local to help all children treated at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Will there be an Expo or Vendor Village this year?
Yes, we are currently building a list of vendors to participate in our first expo. Vendors will be on-site Saturday, October 15 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, October 16 from 5:30am – noon.
